Father passed away - don't know if he had will

Case Description
My father passed away last week July 2009 in Mississauga, Ontario and we have searched everywhere for a will! My brother and I are his only next of kin - How do we go about finding a will or if there is no will than what do we do? We have no money to hire an estate lawyer - we do know of 2 bank accounts he has - is there any way of getting the bank to disclose how much money is in his accounts so we would be able to hire a lawyer? (If there is little money in his accounts than I think it would be senseless to hire a lawyer. So it would be great to have a lawyer who will do a consultation to see what our options and pursue this if any.
