Insurance policy cancelled without notice

Case Description
I don't see the monthly deduction from my online bank account from my insurance company. Insurance policy was set to expire in March 2010.
Earlier I was asked for proof of second driver since another individual was driving a car last December and got into a small accident (no report was made, license and car plate number was given), the other person tried to make a claim. Insurance company asked me to give details of the second driver, I said the second driver has a car and his own insurance policy. They wanted the second drivers insurance policy, which I didn't get a chance to give; not sure why I should in the first place. Anyway I haven't heard anything from then, and this month I don't see them taking money out so I'm assuming they have cancelled my policy; which I don't think is legal since I didn't recieve any single notice of cancellation. I think I've even been driving without insurance becuase of this insurance company, I haven't contacted them since finding out. I'd like to know if I can do anything about this, I would really like to take legal action if possible because this is infact a breach of trust amongst many other things. These people need to get their process set down straight, maybe a shake might help. I'm looking for an insurance lawyer who can look into this and would like to work on a contingency basis. Maybe it would be a good idea to find out what the issue actually is before seeking legal advice. That is unless you can afford to pay a lawyer $500 per hour to investigate the matter for you.
