Case Description
I work in the oil & gas industry for approximately 20 years for a very large service company 7 years working as a labour worker which requires assembling equipment on well site as well drive trucks to and from location I accomplished all certification as well a \"senior\" status for the operating or labour position.I then applied myself for the supervisor position which required a senior operator class which I had as well then being picked by management. This was 1997 I have been classified up to a position of supervisor II as of 2 years ago which I have in writing. The problem is that last year I was reclassified to a specialist junior without any documentation telling me that they were going to or did do this.As well when I phoned HR they would not tell me what my payscale was for either the supervisor II or the specialist junior and this after 13 years of doing the same job for the same company. Then to add this past summer the company comes foward and without having us sign anything they give a shop memo saying that all field staff who go out into the field must take a 15% wage rollback, but meanwhile office staff were given a 20% wage rollback but they signed a contract that the government would pay for the one day a week they had to stay home which was a form of unemployment for them. Managers and other office staff took no pay cuts at all. As of January 1 2010 office staff who were on one day a week unemployment are back to full wage but as of yet we are not and they have said we probably will not get that 15% back ever. Lastly I was given a raise last year and I was told that I was in the middle of my pay scale but they would not tell me what my pay scale is for my position or show me anything in writing a contract or anything I do hear from other employees that they have had contacts drawn up but I have never signed anything. Now this year only one year later after taking a 15% pay cut from my middle of the pay scale wage they are telling me that I\'am being overpaid. I\'am worried that they reclassified me to lower my wage and to be able to justify it.I have had no problems with being wrote up,a star employee for the most point.I do work alone and this job that I do has dwindled down to only myself within this line of work so I feel I \'am being discriminated due to my position disappearing and they do not want to lay me off, instead push me into quitting.Being in a minority position has been nothing but miserable but I love the work and the people who I go out and work for \" the oil companies\" loved my work and would call for me to come back, they would ask for me personally. I care about my job I do my best but I guess when they pushed I should have quit, but I do a good job and I like the work. I\"am very intimidated they are large and could make further attempts to find work hard, help please!
