Case Description
I was sceduled for surgery on Januray 19th, 2010 for a hernia operation. I informed the preop nurse, the recovery nurse, the surgeon, and the aneathesis before the surgery that /I become very nervous before they put me to sleep and would like something to relax me before they put me to sleep. The aneathesis had injected me with the drug that paralyzes you when you are already asleep before they put me under. This caused me to stop breathing and I was aware of everything that was happening but unable to speak, open my eyes, or move to tell them something was wrong. The aneathesis had told me after the surgery was over and I was in recovery that there was a mistake and the vials had gotten mixed up. He apologized for it and had even given me his home number, cell, and clinic number if I needed to call. He phoned me the next day Jan 20th to see if I was ok and again apologized. Since the surgery I have not been able to sleep, I can't eat and am suffering from increased anxiety.
