Description

Law Type:Family
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba
Specific Issue: Paternity

Case Description

I am a young mother, and have recently just found out that I am pregnant by a one nightstand. I know the Father very well and he seems to get himself into many situations similar to this one. I don’t plan aborting this pregnancy. He’s undecided at the moment and isn’t sure if he would like to be in the child’s life or not. I gave him two options which in my opinion I think are fair. I told him that if he decided to be in the child’s life he would only be allowed to visit, when the child is at least six she/he can stay over night as long as he has a home to my standards, a car and doesn’t bring girls home when they are staying over. If he decides not to be in the child’s life then he MUST pay child support, and he cannot just waltz into our child’s life when it’s convenient for him. He must be there from the beginning. I would like to talk to a lawyer on these options and enforcing them legally.
